Lice can spread quickly through a population. To help reduce lice and prevent them from being passed on, consider the following strategies:

Regularly check everyone in the household for signs of lice. Inspect the hair and scalp carefully, looking for live lice as well as nits (eggs) attached to the hair shafts. Pay close attention to the areas behind the ears and at the nape of the neck, as these are common hiding spots for lice.

If lice are found, treat the affected individual(s) with an approved lice-killing product. Carefully follow the instructions on the product packaging. It's important to treat everyone in the household, even if they don't show signs of infestation, to prevent the lice from spreading.

After treatment, thoroughly clean the home environment. Wash bedding, clothing, and other items that have been in contact with the infested person in hot water (at least 130°F/54°C) and dry them on a high heat setting. Vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture, and soak combs and brushes in hot water for at least 10 minutes.

Maintaining good hygiene and regular checks can help reduce the spread of lice and prevent ongoing infestations. By taking a proactive and comprehensive approach, you can effectively manage lice in your household.
