Calami font family by Yves Michel is a free fancy decorative font in 2 styles. Each letterform puts up on a nostalgic setup made up of loops, curves, and different angles. There’s a lot of playfulness in the way each character is decorated, making the typeface simply unique. Few are the typefaces whose letters differ this much, but the symmetry that’s maintained here is unusual.
Use Calami to decorate your greeting cards for Christmas, Halloween, or any other occasion. The typeface is also perfect for designing birthday invitations, especially for kids. Other interesting contexts in which you can use this font include packaging, label design, menus, website graphics, and signboards.
The free font family has a limited non-commercial license that allows use in personal projects. When a commercial license is needed, the designer suggests making a donation.
This font is inspired by an exercise in penmanship from "The Zanerian Manual of Alphabets and Engrossing," a book digitized by David Grimes.
I scanned and digitized it and transformed it from back italic to regular.
It is a calligraphic font created with a double-pointed pen (light on the left and broad on the right), resembling the "Scroll Nibs 10" from William Mitchell Ltd and the "Twin Nib" from Kaweco.
