Metropolian font family designed by Pilaster Davy is a free retro font with a refined sophisticated look. It features 4 font styles, each of which plays an equal role in establishing the typeface’s classic essence. Although a retro font, the font is exceptionally polished and refined making it a perfect elegant modern font choice. With a style and structure similar to a traditional serif font, this font is a successful contemporary take on classic typefaces.
Metropolian font can be used in authentic historical projects, or modern projects that aim to get that unique style of certain historical eras. Specific suitable uses include all types of print publication design types, website design, product packaging, billboards, and other signage. The font will also be ideal for invitations, posters, brochures, labels, logos, and typography font usages.
Metropolian font family is free for personal use only. You can overtime try the typeface for commercial purposes; however, consider donating a certain amount to the owner so you can remain ethically at ease with your usage practices and can enjoy extended access to the free font.
Id been looking for a project and came upon a typeface called Metropolis, in a 1897 American Type Founders, New York specimen book.
Metropolian is my revival of Metropolis.
It is provided in two weights. Display for use at larger sizes and the slightly weightier Text for smaller sizes and body copy. Body copy set in Display looks a bit spider crawled across the page, so I made the Text version to make the project more usable.
Metropolian is served free for personal use and as is, but I would encourage anyone downloading and using it to consider a modest donation to the "buy the author a beer" fund using the donate button on the right of this page. For use in commercial projects, a donation should be considered mandatory, and not making one will induce seriously bad Karma.
Hope you enjoy using it as much as I enjoyed bringing it back to life.
Update with a more complete glyph set and improved metrics.
