The period around 1900 produced the Impressionists in painting and Art Nouveau in architecture and graphic design. I have always admired the Arnold Boecklin typeface, which serves as a remarkable illustration of this era.
Inspired by this aesthetic, I set out to create a font that captures the spirit of the time while avoiding mere imitation. I named it "Victor Horta" in tribute to our great Belgian architect, a disciple of Eugène Viollet-le-Duc and a precursor of Art Nouveau. The resulting typeface is "Horta Embossed," which embodies these artistic principles.
