The period around 1900 produced the Impressionists in painting and Art Nouveau in architecture and graphic design. I have always admired the Arnold Boecklin typeface, which is a remarkable illustration of this era.
To capture this spirit, I created a font that pays homage without simply copying or imitating. Named Victor Horta, it honors our great Belgian architect, a disciple of Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, a precursor of Art Nouveau. The resulting font is embossed, with light casting from the upper left side.
