Author's note
The period around 1900 produced the Impressionists in painting and Art Nouveau in architecture and graphic design. I have always admired the Arnold Boecklin typeface, which is a remarkable illustration of this era.
With this inspiration, I aimed to create a free font that captures the essence of this style without resorting to direct copying or easy imitation. I named it Victor Horta in tribute to our great Belgian architect, a disciple of Eugène Viollet-le-Duc and a precursor of Art Nouveau. The resulting font is embossed, designed to be visually striking and illuminated from the upper left side.
